New York City has taken the top spot as the “most Instagrammable” city in the United States.
While NYC is often criticized for its high cost of living and a reputation that isn’t always glowing, recent findings reveal that it’s now celebrated for its stunning visuals on social media.
Cheese, big apple!
The report identifies New York as the leading urban backdrop for photography, outshining popular cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, Las Vegas, and San Francisco. A detailed analysis was conducted, examining over 895 million Instagram posts with location-specific hashtags across major US cities.
These hashtags included variations like “#NewYorkCity,” “#NYC,” “#NewYork,” and more. Each city’s post count contributed to a ranked list.
Even for a city that never truly sleeps, it’s impressive; over 183 million Instagram posts have been tagged there.
“As the most populated and arguably the most iconic city in the world, [NYC] stands as a cultural landmark,” the study’s authors commented.
They highlighted famous sites, such as the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree and the Empire State Building, as major draws.
The two dominant hashtags are #NYC and #NewYorkCity, with usage exceeding 145.3 million times.
With a plethora of attractions and landmarks, New York remains a top destination for social media photography.
Recently, Gotham earned this title, contrasting its previous labels like the “worst” city for dating.
Los Angeles snagged second place with 141.3 million posts fueled by its celebrity culture, while Chicago came in third with 60.2 million, leveraging its iconic skyline and famous movie houses.
These three cities surely exhibit a kind of beauty that deserves recognition.
In a comment, Tony Gilbert, the creative director at Rivers Wall Art, noted, “Urban landscapes make great options for home décor. Even if you don’t live in New York, you can experience it through your art.”
