The Big Apple Triathlon, previously known as the New York City Triathlon, made its much-anticipated return on Saturday, October 10, 2026. The event attracted around 1,300 passionate athletes, all eager to tackle the demanding course that included a 1500m swim in the Hudson River, a 24.8-mile bike ride along the West Side Highway, and a 6.2-mile run through Central Park.
This race has been a fixture since its inception in 2001, but it’s faced its share of challenges over the years. In fact, recent editions were marked by a series of scheduling issues and less-than-ideal weather conditions, which understandably left some fans feeling a bit wary.
