New York Post Expands to California with The California Post

The New York Post is set to expand its reach to the West Coast with the launch of California Posts next year.

Robert Thomson, CEO of News Corp, which owns the New York Post, shared the announcement on Monday.

Thomson commented, “Los Angeles and California definitely need a daily outlet as a response to the growing trend of poor journalism out there.” He emphasized that this new publication will play an important role in providing engaging and insightful content for readers seeking serious news infused with humor.

As reported by the New York Post, the new publication will operate from Los Angeles with a dedicated team of editors, reporters, and photographers focusing on various topics, including news, entertainment, politics, culture, sports, and business.

The Los Angeles team will benefit from support from a New York-based crew that will handle national and international stories.

Content will appear in daily print formats alongside a dedicated website tailored for Californians, with stories available across multiple platforms such as video, audio, and social media.

Veteran journalist Nick Papps, who has nearly two decades of experience, will serve as the editor. He previously held positions at several publications, including serving as the West Coast Correspondent for West Coast Corp Australia while living in LA.

The launch is timely, coinciding with significant events like the 2026 gubernatorial election, the World Cup, and the 2028 Summer Olympics.

According to the New York Post editor Keith Poole, the new endeavor aims to adopt a sensible, inquiry-focused approach to urban journalism.

“Readers care deeply about what they consume, even if some fail to recognize it,” he remarked, mentioning that he conveys information clearly and with conviction.
