California Post Launched by New York Post Media Group

In an exciting new development, the New York Post Media Group announced the launch of a venture called the California Post, set to debut in 2026. This was revealed on Monday, gearing up for what seems to be a fresh take on news from a California viewpoint.

The California Post promises a “unique and essential combination” of straightforward journalism that covers everything from celebrity happenings to in-depth sports reporting, all presented with the New York Post’s well-known flair, but tailored specifically for a California audience.

“Los Angeles and California definitely need a daily dose of insightful journalism, especially with the troubling rise of sensationalized reporting elsewhere,” someone noted. It’s a crucial time for cities and the nation overall.

Expanding Horizons

In line with this expansion, Thompson mentioned, “I’m thrilled that Keith Poole’s responsibilities are broadening to not just cover New York, but also California and beyond—even to Mars, perhaps.”

The California Post will operate from Los Angeles and will present content on various platforms, catering to mobile and desktop users while also offering print options. It aims to reach audiences on video, audio, and social media as well.

Keith Poole, the Editor-in-Chief, emphasized the importance of California as the most populated state in the U.S. He remarked, “Many stories remain untold, and there are perspectives that need expression. We’re aware of what our readers care about—though it often goes overlooked by others.”

New Leadership

The venture will function independently but under the New York Post Media Group’s umbrella, with Nick Papps appointed as editor-in-chief. Poole expressed enthusiasm about Papps joining the team, praising his insight into Los Angeles’s narrative and his ability to harness the Post’s distinct voice in such a dynamic market.

Sean Jeancola, CEO of New York Post Media Group, noted that the content has already connected with audiences everywhere, from small shops to corporate offices. He concluded, “Our straightforward approach to news has earned us the trust of millions. The New York Post was the voice of New Yorkers, and with this new endeavor, we’re looking to extend our reach.”

The California Post is set for release next year. It appears to be a promising addition to the media landscape, offering a fresh perspective just in time for a new chapter in journalism.
