A recent article by The New York Times mistakenly states that Ryan Rouse, who attempted to assassinate Trump, is innocent.

A screenshot displays a headline that reads, “It turns out he’s not committed to trying to assassinate Trump in Florida.”

They have since retracted the claim, stating it was an erroneous pre-published draft.

Fox News reported:

Ryan Rouse, the would-be Trump assassin, was found guilty on all counts on Tuesday. However, The New York Times accidentally published an incorrect article.

Journalists often draft articles related to potential court outcomes, obituaries, and election results before significant events, but what happened here was a major oversight. The screenshot reflects a headline saying “Deciding not that he was guilty of assassinating Trump in Florida.” The original article misleadingly claimed that a judge had acquitted Rouse last year. Other screenshots revealed plans for the article to appear in print on September 24, 2025.

A spokesperson for The New York Times stated, “In anticipation of newsworthy events like the courtroom verdict, The Times and other outlets sometimes mispublish pre-written articles. Clearly, Mr. Rouse was found guilty on all counts against him.”

The reality is that Ryan Rouse was found guilty on all charges.

The AP reported:

After a two-week trial, jurors took just two hours on Tuesday to convict Rouse of attempting to assassinate Donald Trump at a Florida golf course last year. The situation escalated when a Secret Service agent confronted Rouse, who fired a shot at him.

Confusion unfolded in the courtroom immediately after the verdict, where Rouse attempted to stab an officer with a pen, prompting swift action from law enforcement.
