Right, to the bin my friend the cricket. New Zealand had an excellent morning, reaching 93 without loss after being put in by Ben Stokes. Tom Latham (36) and Will Young (42) needed some luck, particularly against Matt Potts, but overall they played really well.

major events
36 overs: New Zealand 126-1 (Latham 55, Williamson 12) For the second time in this over, Kearse retired midway through his delivery stride. A quick glance over his shoulder reveals that it has something to do with the scaffolding.
It continues to be an expensive day for Kearse, but Williamson pulls hard to get four players into double figures.
35 overs: New Zealand 121-1 (Latham 54, Williamson 8) Latham arrives at his 50 A great drive to mid-off when Atkinson over-pitched. He will be desperate to turn this into his first Test century in two years, with little celebration and just a quick swing of the bat.
That dream almost disappeared when Duckett dropped him for the second time today. At the third slip he dove low to the left and Duckett was unable to hold on, giving him a really tough chance.
34 overs: New Zealand 116-1 (Latham 49, Williamson 8) Good over from Kaas. Williamson gets hit with a lifter and then Ubetcha gets hit with a sneaky nip backer. He responded with a natural four-man offdrive. Kearse has hit nine fours in eight overs so far.
“In sympathy with the journalists at the Guardian, I would like to claim that I was completely absent from the first session,” says Brian Withington. “Actually, I was distracted by the Dalgliesh episode that featured the quiet, unobtrusive intelligence of Bertie Carvell, the detective Chris Woakes. Do you know if you were suspended without pay?”
If it was a series deciding game, I'm sure he would play, but in this situation it's a good time to take another look at Potts. I still dream of a nice big buck dropping near Ollie Robinson, but there's a pretty good chance that either Woakes or Potts will get the new ball along with Gus Atkinson at the start of the Ashes.
33rd over: New Zealand 112-1 (Latham 49, Williamson 4) A quiet over from Atkinson to Latham keeps Latham on 49 points. The only runs were a couple of leg byes.
32 overs: New Zealand 110-1 (Latham 49, Williamson 4) Kearse, who has rarely bowled badly against Williamson himself in this series, continued: But he was far from his best today, with Williamson leaping over a long hop and slapping over four extra covers.
31 overs: New Zealand 105-1 (Latham 48, Williamson 0) The new batter is Kane Williamson. It will be interesting to see if Ben Stokes hooks Brydon Kearse to get Matt Potts after one over. He had a great performance against Williamson in the 2022 series with 32 pitches, 3 runs, and 3 ejections.
Wicket! New Zealand 105-1 (Young C Brook B Atkinson 42)
We finally get the edge. Young pushes hard with a good outside swinger and edges low to second slip. Brook is the world's No. 1 batsman as well as one of the most reliable slippers, able to crouch and take very good catches at boot height.
30 overs: New Zealand 105-0 (Latham 48, Young 42) Latham puts up a century stand with two boundaries off Kurth, a drive through mid-on and a clip through midwicket. Prior to this match, the sides' eight opening partnerships (four to each side) had produced a total of 67 runs.
Latham gets the third boundary when the edge goes past a bully diving Bethel. Carth stomped his foot back to Mark with a wry smile.
29 overs: New Zealand 93-0 (Latham 36, Young 42) Atkinson returns to attack after lunch, giving Will Young his virginity. It may take a few deliveries to find your line. That's when Young gets hit from the inside by a dangerous nipbacker. England suffered from bad luck at the same time, finishing just below par.
“Put Australia in the Gabba?'' says Tom Hopkins. “When did that go wrong?”
Sigh, very. I think having Jasprit Bumrah will help.
The third Test between Australia and India has begun at the Gabba. India won the toss and put Australia in to bat. The same goes for Martin Pegan.

Yes, to my friend's trash can cricket. New Zealand had a great morning, reaching 93 points without conceding a goal from Ben Stokes. Tom Latham (36) and Will Young (42) needed some luck, especially against Matt Potts, but overall they played very well.
