Newport Beach mayor rips Gov. Newsom after migrant boat lands in his city

The mayor of Newport Beach, California, is slamming Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom and other left-leaning state police over a shipload of illegal immigrants that just washed up on his city's shores.

“Let's get our act together,” Mayor Matt O'Neill raged. Fox 11 interview It happened Saturday after the coast guard arrested 21 migrants on a fishing boat off the coast on Thursday night. “We cannot continue to treat every city in California like a border city.”

According to the paper, the migrants were identified as 18 Mexicans, two Uzbeks and one Russian.

“There's no way we're going to protect Uzbeks coming in from our southern border,” O'Neill said, referring to Newsom and state officials.

The incident is at least the third recorded boatload of illegal immigrants to wash up in Newport Beach so far this year, according to Fox 11.

O'Neill blasted Democrats' sanctuary policies that are fueling an unchecked wave of immigration in California and across the country.

In April, video showed more than 20 migrants casually docking at a local port and then scattering into town.

In January, Homeland Security intercepted another group of migrants attempting to enter Newport Beach by boat.

O'Neal said he had had enough.

“Please understand this because we have a serious problem that affects real people in your cities across California,” the mayor said.

President-elect Donald Trump made the issue a key part of his campaign, helping propel him back into the White House.
