News outlets prepare to file a lawsuit after White House ban

News Organizations Sue Trump Over Press Access

According to reports from CNN, MS Now, and Politico, several news organizations are initiating a lawsuit against President Donald Trump and three of his senior advisors. This legal action aims to restore their access to the White House after their entry was denied and press credentials were revoked due to what was labeled as “FAKE NEWS” in their reporting.

In a statement released on Monday, these outlets – including notable media entities – announced their intention to sue Trump, along with White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, spokesperson Steven Cheung, and Secret Service chief Sean Curran. They argue that the revocation of access violates the First Amendment.

“This morning, we notified the government that we are filing a lawsuit today to protect our First Amendment rights and defend the principle that the government does not decide what the press reports or publishes,” the news organizations stated.

They further explained, “Without notice or process, the White House revoked our journalists’ credentials because it objected to our reporting. Left unchallenged, this threatens press freedom and the public’s right to independent journalism free from government interference.”

On Friday, in response to questioning about the access ban, the president noted that the decision was based on “cumulative stories over the last two years,” not just one specific piece.

“I don’t think somebody should be allowed to come and write fake stories. They’re fake news. And they have no credibility,” Trump remarked. “Now, if they want to write them, that’s fine, but I don’t have to let them into my — into the people’s house.”

He added, “I don’t want them in my office. I don’t want them here. I would say the ban would go as far as you can, and if they could straighten themselves out, I’d love it.”
