California Governor Gavin Newsom recently made remarks linking President Donald Trump with Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender who has since passed away. During an appearance on the Shawn Ryan Show, Newsom discussed the Trump administration’s failure to release the Epstein Files, despite a prior campaign promise to do so.
“For me, it’s always been a sideshow,” Newsom stated. He also mentioned that Elon Musk made an intriguing point regarding the files, remarking how soon after his tweet, Musk questioned, “Which file is it?”
Newsom referenced Musk’s recent posts on social media, where Musk claimed that Trump was “in Epstein’s files,” suggesting this was the reason the files weren’t made public. Musk, who used to be closely associated with Trump, has criticized the administration for not disclosing Epstein’s “client list” or taking action against him.
Trump has dismissed the Epstein matter lately, asserting that it’s not a pressing issue anymore. He accused some Republicans still addressing Epstein’s case as being misled by Democrats. “Their new scam is the Jeffrey Epstein hoax,” Trump said on his platform Truth Social, insisting that his accomplishments overshadow the ongoing discussions around Epstein.
In response to Trump’s comments, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondy recently stated that Epstein’s “client list” had surfaced during investigations but later clarified that it was more about the Epstein case file itself. She also noted that Epstein’s supposed suicide had been deemed conclusive by the FBI.
In a back-and-forth on social media, Newsom criticized Republicans for obstructing the release of Epstein-related information. He sarcastically questioned why there was such a strong effort to block details regarding a supposedly “non-existent” list.
At a recent White House briefing, Trump reaffirmed that Bondy could release any materials regarding Epstein, denoting them as trustworthy, while granting his critic’s claims of being trapped by Democratic narratives.
“He’s dead. He’s gone,” Trump remarked about Epstein. He implied that certain Republicans were, in his view, misguided by similar tactics used in past political narratives, like the Russia investigations.
Meanwhile, Newsom humorously remarked on social media that he had forgotten about the Epstein files following Trump’s uninspired take on the ongoing interest in them. “Thank God! I’d completely forgotten the Epstein files now!” he humorously tweeted, alongside images of Trump and Epstein, and a reference to a Nickelback song. “Nickelback said it best,” he added.
