Washington DC hosts Great American State Fair for America250
Ambassador Monica Crowley discussed the Great American State Fair, set to take place on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., from June 25th to July 10th. This 16-day celebration marks America’s 250th anniversary, featuring pavilions from all 50 states and six territories, a 110-foot Ferris wheel, traditional games, a rodeo, and a focus on uniting the nation.
This week, California Governor Gavin Newsom made waves by poking fun at President Donald Trump through a parody of a limited-edition U.S. passport, which prominently displays the president’s face. This playful jab came after the State Department announced it would issue these special passports to honor America’s 250th anniversary.
In a clever response, Newsom, known for his frequent social media critiques of Trump, shared a mock image of a California driver’s license featuring his own picture instead.
“In honor of California’s 175th anniversary, we’re issuing a special driver’s license to every Californian this summer!” his office commented. Meanwhile, the White House stated that President Trump is focused on the country rather than seeking recognition.
The spokesperson for the White House added that those who view Trump’s celebration of national greatness as problematic are likely suffering from “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
Since last summer, Newsom has increasingly adopted a style reminiscent of Trump on social media, reflecting both praise for himself and critiques of Trump’s tone and policies.
In another instance, Newsom’s office shared an image of a U.S. passport that depicted Trump alongside the late financier Jeffrey Epstein. Additionally, during a weekend post, Newsom labeled Trump a “loser,” a term Trump often employs against his critics.
“Very important people in Washington, D.C., Gavin C. Newsom, came up to me and said, ‘Gavin, sir, you are a great man. As the governor of the free world, you have to go to the WHCA dinner,’” his office quipped, referring to the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner.
The situation gained further attention after a gunman allegedly shot a U.S. Secret Service agent in the vicinity before being arrested.
President Trump has questioned Newsom’s qualifications for the presidency, often referencing the governor’s personally discussed dyslexia. Newsom has responded with sarcasm, claiming people are urging him to run because he is revitalizing the Democratic Party.
Fox News Digital has reached out to Newsom’s office for additional comments.
