Newsom’s Wife Shares Dolls with Her Sons, Changes Bedtime Stories to be Gender-Neutral

California’s First Partner Embraces Gender-Inclusive Terminology

Jennifer Lynn Siebel Newsom Ocasio Rodham, who refers to herself as California’s “first partner,” advocates for gender-inclusive language. She also hinted at some dynamics within the Newsom household that might raise eyebrows.

Her recent remarks sparked debate. “I give my sons dolls—even if their heads are off. It’s important they learn that care isn’t just a woman’s job; it’s a human responsibility,” she explained, perhaps trying to one-up the competition among political spouses.

But her comments took a turn. “If you’re reading a book with a male protagonist, just swap ‘he’ for ‘she,'” she suggested. She insisted that women matter and have interesting stories to tell.

This made me pause. Is that really practical? Switching genders in stories raises a lot of questions. It feels a bit contrived, honestly. There are plenty of narratives with female leads out there, so it seems like a stretch to imply otherwise.

Still, she continued, excited about a time when we might dismantle gender norms and focus on our shared humanity. “I’ll keep deconstructing these outdated narratives about womanhood,” she said, clearly passionate.

However, one has to wonder about the implications of such ideas on children. The Newsom kids, currently aged between 10 and 15, are still engaging with toys like dolls. Isn’t there something concerning about that? A person could question the wisdom of it all.

Back in 2023, she remarked on a “brainwashing tour” through red states, claiming it was important for combating issues like racism and sexism. But doesn’t this just teach kids a skewed view of the world?

She argues that traditional education omits essential historical context. “It’s vital to inspire kids, cultivate their curiosity, and help them empathize,” she added, although the delivery was somewhat off-putting.

It’s hard not to see her as a bit naive. Her ambition to be the first lady—or, as she puts it, the first partner—comes with complexities, to say the least. In my view, “first groomer” might be more fitting given her approach.
