NEWT GINGRICH: Trump’s ‘Big, Beautiful Bill’ Is The Way Forward

The primary goal for the Trump administration and Congressional Republicans must be to pass what I call the Tax Cuts, Jobs, and Affordable Housing Act. President Donald J. Trump put it this way:One large and beautiful banknote

A strong economic bill is key to the 2026 election and must be a top priority for Republicans. We know that the economy, inflation, and affordability are top concerns for Americans. (Related: JD FOSTER: Trump tax cuts are good, flat tax is better, unified flat tax is best)

The southern border and illegal immigration are also important, and additional border security measures must be included in the bill.

However, it still ranks second to the economy. Additionally, the president can accomplish considerable things regarding illegal immigration and the border without Congressional legislation (such as enforcing laws that the Biden administration currently ignores).

Quick timing is important. It takes time for new laws to impact people's daily lives.

Republicans should have learned this lesson twice. First with President Ronald Reagan in 1981, then with President Trump in 2017.

When Reagan won the presidency, 3 years tax reduction through parliament summer of 1981he allowed the document to be drawn up so that the tax reduction would only begin in 1983. Economic results did not provide any real stimulus in 1982. The political outcome was House Republicans. lost 26 seats in the 1982 off-year election.

Similarly, in 2017, Congressional leaders convinced newly elected President Trump that he could not achieve tax cuts until Obamacare was repealed. They focused on Obamacare for months but failed to repeal it. Lost months mean Trump tax cuts would have just passed. in December 2017. As a result, there was little impact on the economy in 2018. House Republican lost 40 seats That year. Then, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) unleashed a hellish rant against the Trump administration. Tearing down his State of the Union address and impeaching him twice was just the opening salvo. The ensuing investigations, harassment, and blockades made the last two years of the first President Trump's life incredibly difficult.

Republicans now face a third chance to build on their economic boom and a fighting chance to keep the House in 2026.

While people consider their voting intentions, the Tax Cuts, Jobs and Affordable Housing Act needs to be passed by July 4, 2025 to reach the boom by summer 2026. .

Once this bill reaches its final form, it will need to be explained and sold to the American people. This will take several months, so the essence of the bill needs to be known by early March. Mr. Trump will then have to conduct a two-and-a-half month campaign, including more than a dozen large rallies, to explain the bill to the American people. His appeal will be strong enough to make them call their representatives and senators and demand that they vote in favor of the bill.

A strong enough economic bill could get many Democrats, regardless of party affiliation, to vote for it. Let's start with the 12 Democrats in districts that Trump supported. Then move on to districts where he was within 5 percentage points. President Reagan's tax cuts and the 1996 welfare reform bill used pressure from home to mobilize people who would not have voted for us if they thought they had a choice. They were unable to explain the “no” vote to voters.

While liberals run the country from the Washington bureaucracy to the grassroots, conservatives run the country by rousing the grassroots and overwhelming resistance in Washington.

Educating, inspiring, and recruiting Americans takes time. President Reagan was able to speak from the Oval Office, and only three networks in existence could cover it. He could really capture the attention of the country. In today's fragmented media ecosystem, it takes more time and effort to get noticed.

Fortunately, Trump is a master of large town hall meetings. If he spends nearly three months hitting key constituencies, he will almost certainly create a grassroots movement.

Talk show hosts, podcasters, columnists, and others who support President Trump's goals will join him to educate and excite Americans to pass the Tax Cuts, Jobs, and Affordable Housing Act. The pressure will be overwhelming.

A single “big, beautiful bill” is the best way to get the economy moving and keep the House Republican. It must be passed by July 4th. If it can meet the demands of House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana). Memorial Day Goals — even better.

Tell your Representatives and Senators that you want a better economy, and that you expect it to happen now.
