NFL community seeks to reveal anti-Bill Belichick Hall of Fame voters

Perhaps Pablo Torre should take a closer look at this situation.

There’s a wave of criticism within the NFL community aimed at anonymous voters who chose not to induct Bill Belichick, an eight-time Super Bowl champion, into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on his first attempt. People are increasingly calling for these voters to be “exposed,” especially following what many view as a significant snub on Tuesday.

As ESPN Insider Adam Schefter noted on Tuesday, he received an email from an NFL executive expressing disbelief: “The 10+ people who didn’t vote for BB should be exposed. Oh my god. This is crazy.”

On social media, Oliver Connolly from the Guardian pointed out that a list of Hall of Fame voting committee members has been compiled. This list features veteran NFL reporters and notable figures in the sport—among them, former coach Tony Dungy and ex-Colts executive Bill Polian. His report highlighted those who supported Belichick and those who opposed him, most of whom have remained silent on the process.

Polian, who was the Colts’ general manager from 1998 to 2009, faces backlash for allegedly sabotaging Belichick’s chances. A report from ESPN stated that Polian suggested to some voters that Belichick should delay his induction by a year as a form of atonement for the Spygate scandal, which saw the Patriots penalized in 2007 for illegally filming opponents’ signals.

New England lost a first-round draft pick and incurred a fine of $250,000, while Belichick himself was fined $500,000.

On Tuesday, Polian attempted to defend himself, claiming he had voted for Belichick but that his certainty was somewhat shaken by past events.

Belichick, who won six Super Bowls alongside Tom Brady while helping to create a Patriots dynasty, garnered only 40 of the 50 necessary votes for induction.

The current head coach of UNC is reportedly “baffled” and “disappointed” by the outcome, while stars like Patrick Mahomes, JJ Watt, and Jimmy Johnson expressed shock as well.

Johnson notably asked, “I would like to know the names of those who did not vote for him… They are too cowardly to reveal their identities…”

On X, suggestions arose to recruit help to uncover the reasoning behind the situation.

One user posted about Belichick and Jordan Hudson collaborating with Torre to identify those voters. Furthermore, Torre humorously suggested a hotline number: “Our hotline is 513-85-PABLO.”
