And here’s a reminder of tonight’s draft order. The fun and games will really begin with the second pick, with the Bears expected to take Caleb Williams with the No 1 overall pick. From there, based on all reports, it’s going to be trade bedlam. Who will trade up for JJ McCarthy? Will the Patriots deal away the third pick? How many teams will leap up for this crop of offensive linemen? It won’t be long until we find out.

Washington’s pick is set. That means the Patriots’ days are numbered. Will they draft Drake Maye, JJ McCarthy, or trade picks?

Update date and time

Profile: Caleb Williams, quarterback, University of Southern California. Williams has long been considered the Bears’ top pick. Although he is known for his timeless creativity, he is a cleaner pocket passer than the typical freelance artist. His ability to extend plays and rotate magic with his arms and legs has led to constant comparisons to Patrick Mahomes for two years. GM 1 person I recently compared Williams to Prince., this was meant as a criticism, but it sounds like an outrageous compliment. Williams has been the top quarterback in college football for the second straight season. After the Heisman Trophy-winning 2022 season, 2023 was thought to be a down year for Williams, but despite USC’s struggles, Williams showed improvement as a passer. In Chicago, he would land on a team that could make the playoffs right away, an unusual situation for a No. 1 overall pick.

Update date and time

And the Chicago Bears have officially arrived! The only question is, will they drive a pickup to the podium or will they sprint for 10 minutes?

Roger Goodell is ejected to a chorus of boos – thank you, Detroit, for upholding the league’s most joyful tradition. He brought in Eminem, Calvin Johnson, Aidan Hutchinson, and Jared Goff, so that helped a little bit.

Also, Calvin Johnson still looks like he’s going to be the best receiver in the league.

Angela Davis sings “Lift Every Voice and Sing” before the first round of the NFL Draft. Photo: Jeff Roberson/AP

This is where the elegance lies. There was a fun performance of “Lift Every Voice and Sing” by Angela Davis. 9.5/10. There were tears and cheers and only a few people chugging beers (good luck, Detroit).

The drama is about to begin. Well, not exactly. The Bears will start playing soon and Caleb Williams will be heading to Chicago.

Minnesota Vikings fans are waiting to see what the team will do with their first-round pick. Photo: Rena Laverty/UPI/REX/Shutterstock

Don’t tell this Vikings fan, but Minnesota plans to acquire an additional first-round pick in March in hopes of giving him the ammunition he needs to emerge as one of this year’s top quarterbacks. Bold strategies may yield no results.

ESPN’s Jeff Darlingon reported that things are “tense” within Minnesota’s war room as they plot to move up the draft board.

Oops. It’s odd in some ways that Minnesota felt the need to make a deal with the Texans so early in the process instead of waiting until draft night to see what the board would do.

Roger Goodell welcomes Will Anderson to the NFL. Photo: David Urit/Getty Images

It’s finally the beginning. There is one subplot worth noting. Will Roger Goodell be a notorious bear? ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the commissioner underwent back surgery three weeks ago, putting the typical “Welcome to the NFL” moment in jeopardy. Ta.

Remember when Goodell ended up running the draft? lounge chair in his basement? It was fun (and a little weird).? He should be able to draft picks every year from the comfort of his recliner.

This is the first time Detroit will host the league’s annual carnival. And they’re doing things in typical Detroit style. What about Dan Campbell as a fortune teller in “Guts and Glory”?

Caleb Williams is projected to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Photo: Brett Farmer/REX/Shutterstock

Caleb Williams will almost certainly be the first player to go to the Bears with the No. 1 overall pick. Who will be chosen for second place? We writers (myself included) think this way.

Congratulations to Kliff Kingsbury, Washington’s offensive coordinator is going to have a blast. LSU’s Jayden Daniels is coming off a great year with the Tigers. His explosive playmaking is evident, but his play inside the pocket has improved significantly. This kid is just getting started. melissa jacobs

North Carolina’s Drake Maye has more upside, but Washington needs a winning quarterback after more than two decades of underachievement. Daniels is on the fast track to fame. A speedy, mobile and creative force at LSU, he scored 10 touchdowns last season and threw with deadly accuracy. david rangeel

I feel like it’s a lock that it would be Daniels, and I thought he had to be more than a commander to fall in love with Michigan’s JJ McCarthy. Daniels is a funky prospect. He was a star dueling threat at LSU, but it’s hard to see if the best elements of his game – his running, deep ball – will translate smoothly to the NFL. He doesn’t have Lamar Jackson’s breakaway speed and has a fragile frame. As a pitcher who throws from the pocket, he has an agile pitch but struggles to transition into second and third reads. There are some elements of RGIII in his game. Does Washington want to go down that path again? Oliver Connolly

This is Drake May. The buzz suggests Washington is in love with Jaden Daniels, but when head coach Dan Quinn probes his feelings, Maye surprisingly falls in love with former Atlanta QB Matt Ryan. You will notice that they are similar. UNC’s star has a cannon for his arm (which is both a blessing and a curse, leading to accuracy issues) and is the unwavering franchise leader a manager needs.
