NFL free agency: Cooper Kupp to join Seahawks after Rams release

Couppacup, the 2022 Super Bowl MVP, reportedly agreed to sign with the Seattle Seahawks after being released by Division rivals Los Angeles Rams earlier this week. Kupp's transactions have been reported for three years and over $45 million.

Kupp heads to his hometown of Washington State to work with Seattle's new quarterback Sam Darnold, filling the gap left by the departure of DK Metcalf, who was traded with the Pittsburgh Steelers last week.

Kupp revealed last month in a social media post that the Rams are “looking for a deal right away, and working with me and my family to find the perfect place to compete for the championship.”

However, he was released as a trading partner was found.

Kupp admitted that he “accepted that he disagreed with the decision and always believed it would start and end in LA.”

Kupp, who turned 32 in June, has been hampered by injuries since receiving the Triple Crown in 2022 and earned the Super Bowl MVP. He has played 33 of 33 of 51 games in the past three seasons. And although he was productive, he takes the back seat at Puka Nakua.

His 710 receiving yards last year was his lowest since he scored 566 in 2018, since he missed half of the game. He hasn't played more than 12 games since that 2022 and hasn't covered the 1,000-yard mark since.

“I take so proud to play with my teammates in the LA community, so I thank you for embracing my family and making this such a special place for us,” Kupp told social media last month. “2024 started with one of the best training camps of my career. Preparations will begin in 2025. I'm as motivated as ever and look forward to playing elite football for years to come.

Kupp joins Seattle's ascending wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Darnold will rely on a steady veteran for his first season in Seattle.
