NFL Player Calais Campbell's Mother Found Dead in Atlanta Home, Brother Charged with Murder

Charges Filed in Mother’s Murder Case

The brother of Baltimore Ravens player Calais Campbell has been arrested for the murder of their mother, Natal Campbell, whose body was discovered in her Atlanta apartment.

Natal, aged 71, was found deceased in her upscale residence located in Buckhead around 12:30 p.m. on a Tuesday after authorities were called to check on her welfare. Reports suggest that her family is reeling from the news, expressing devastation over her passing and requesting privacy during this difficult time. They mentioned a belief that she is now reunited with her late husband and in the presence of their faith.

Meanwhile, police have charged 41-year-old Sheary Campbell, the brother of the NFL star, with murder. Investigators have secured a search warrant for the apartment and collected evidence, including clothing and DNA samples, according to the suspect’s attorney.

Authorities noted that Sheary has had previous encounters relating to mental health issues. Lt. Christopher Butler from the Atlanta Police Department shared with the media that there had been multiple calls to the apartment for possible arson incidents earlier in the year, hinting at underlying complications affecting the individual involved.

Details about the crime remain sparse as the investigation continues.

Sheary is facing charges that include murder, aggravated assault, and unlawful possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony.

Calais Campbell, while known for his impressive career, having been drafted in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals, has played for several teams including the Jaguars and the Dolphins. He has earned accolades such as the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award in 2019 and has six Pro Bowl appearances to his name, currently ranking third in sacks among active NFL players.
