NFL reporter experiences an uncomfortable moment with Deebo Samuel after mentioning his finger injury

During an interview with NFL Network, things got a bit awkward for Deebo Samuel. At the end of the session, Mike Garafolo seemed to upset Samuel by explaining why he hadn’t shaken his hand.

“Deebo Samuel was with us for a live show at training camp, and I usually shake hands when someone leaves,” Garafolo commented.

However, as he continued talking, he revealed too much, which led to an uncomfortable moment between them. Samuel reacted with a hint of frustration, saying, “But I waved on the way out. No, no, no, I got a little, uh, I stuffed my fingers today.” This response caught the eye of NFL analyst Mark Ross, who looked concerned.

As Garafolo noticed, he paused and asked, “Oh, I wasn’t supposed to say that?” Ross nodded, implying that it wasn’t the right move. Garafolo then tried to recover, saying, “Please, can we edit that part? It didn’t happen. I just gave him a left-handed fist bump. I’m not in trouble now, right?”

Samuel jokingly remarked, “Damn, you groped your bag badly.” This comment felt out of place, especially since reports of his injured fingers had already circulated during training camp.

Apparently, Samuel injured his finger after a collision with quarterback Jaden Daniels, according to ESPN.

Looking ahead, the veteran receiver is gearing up for the 2024 season after joining the Commanders this offseason, hoping to bounce back from a previous season where he recorded 51 catches for 670 yards and three touchdowns with the 49ers. The Commanders are striving to make strides after not reaching the NFC Championship Game last season.
