Houston Texans Struggle Against Buccaneers
The Houston Texans have dropped to 0-2 after their loss to the Buccaneers on Monday night. Their offensive line is underperforming, and the running game isn’t faring any better. Joe Mixon, last season’s leading back, is still battling foot injuries. Meanwhile, Nick Chubb has stepped up as the primary running back. He has managed 25 carries totaling 101 yards, along with a touchdown and 29 receiving yards from two catches. While these stats don’t dazzle, they’re certainly not terrible. An interesting note is that the Buccaneers allowed Chubb to score when there was still 2:10 left on the clock. Despite a 25-yard touchdown run, prior to that, he had rushed 11 times for just 18 yards. If we look at the overall stats, he ends up with 24 carries for 76 yards and no touchdowns. Sure, he might’ve scored anyway on that drive, but it raises questions about his biggest play being a result of a defensive lapse.
Nick Chubb’s Fantasy Football Projections for Week 3
Looking ahead, the Texans face the Jaguars, who have shown some ability to limit opposing running backs. Last week, they held Chase Brown to 47 yards on 16 carries and limited Tuba Hubbard to 57 yards in a similar fashion. If this trend continues, it’s likely Chubb could end up with around 37 yards on 16 carries—which sounds a bit silly now that I think about it. Still, it’s hard to imagine them committing to many carries if he’s not being effective. So far, he’s averaging 13.5 touches per game.
Should You Start or Sit Chubb in a PPR League This Week?
Start. It can be tricky to bench a lead back, even if they’re not getting a ton of action. Ideally, he should get around 10 to 15 touches per game, and you just hope one might turn into a touchdown. If you can start three running backs, consider playing Chubb as an RB3 or Flex. His ceiling is pretty low right now, so hopefully, you have a stronger option available.
Should You Start or Sit Chubb in a Standard League This Week?
Start. The reasoning is much the same as before.
