Nick Fuentes Backs Amy Acton for Governor of Ohio

Nick Fuentes Urges Ohioans to Vote for Amy Acton

On Thursday, white nationalist Nick Fuentes called on voters in Ohio to support Democrat Amy Acton for governor, coinciding with the start of early voting across the state.

In a bold post on X early Friday, Fuentes encouraged his followers to cast their votes for Acton as early voting began earlier that week. “Early voting has begun in Ohio. VOTE AMY ACTON FOR GOVERNOR,” he wrote, leaving no room for ambiguity.

This endorsement builds on a stance Fuentes took in May, when he expressed reluctance about supporting Democratic candidates. He has previously stated that he feels compelled to vote for Democrats. “We’re gonna have to hold our noses and we’re gonna have to vote Democrat,” he remarked during that time, as noted by various reports. He even referred to himself as a “non-woke moderate Democrat” and surprisingly advocated for the impeachment of President Donald Trump.

Fuentes, hailing from Illinois, has publicly criticized Republican nominee Vivek Ramaswamy, directly linking his opposition to Ramaswamy’s heritage. The commentator declared that Ramaswamy, who was born to Indian immigrants in Cincinnati, “cannot become the governor of Ohio,” a sentiment reported by multiple sources.

In fact, the Ohio gubernatorial race has become a focal point for Fuentes, who stated, “We have to deny Vivek Ramaswamy the governorship.” His comments came after Ramaswamy confronted him by name during an event organized by Turning Point USA.

Meanwhile, Republicans are distancing themselves from Fuentes. Ramaswamy openly condemned him in a New York Times op-ed, while Vice President JD Vance criticized Fuentes for attacking his wife, Usha. House Speaker Mike Johnson characterized Fuentes’s comments as “blatantly antisemitic, racist, and anti-American.”

Political analysts have suggested that Fuentes’s endorsement is unlikely to sway Ohio voters significantly. Dominik Stecula, a political science professor at Ohio State University, commented that Fuentes remains “still a relatively fringe figure.”

This endorsement appears as Ramaswamy, who secured the Republican primary with Trump’s strong support, engages in a competitive race. Acton, who previously served as the state’s health director during the COVID-19 pandemic, ran unopposed for the Democratic nomination in a state that has not seen a Democrat hold the governorship in nearly twenty years.
