But I’d still like to win against Michigan.” Saban’s perspective is informed; he served as a defensive backs coach during the 1980s under famed coach Woody Hayes, giving him insights into the rivalry’s intensity.

He secured the starting role in the offseason and has thrown for over 2,800 yards and 27 touchdowns, all while the defense has kept opponents to just 16 points or fewer throughout the season.
