Nick Sirianni offers puzzling response regarding A.J. Brown’s future with the Eagles amid trade speculation

Sirianni Addresses AJ Brown’s Future with the Eagles

Nick Sirianni has left some uncertainty regarding AJ Brown’s future in Philadelphia.

The Eagles coach expressed admiration for the talented wide receiver ahead of the NFL Combine. He believes both parties want to maintain their collaboration, but there’s “no guarantee” Brown will stay for a fifth season amid ongoing trade speculation.

“Will AJ be here next season? We’re still figuring that out. We can’t promise what will happen next season,” Sirianni stated. He mentioned thoughts of becoming a coach next season but added, “I can’t guarantee anything after tomorrow.”

In Philadelphia, Brown’s status is widely discussed. After a mixed 2025 season, it became clear that he and quarterback Jalen Hurts had their disagreements.

Brown, who previously starred at Ole Miss, ended the season with a career-low 1,003 yards on just 78 receptions and seven touchdowns over 15 games. In fact, there were four games where he had two or fewer catches.

After a Week 4 game where he recorded just two catches for seven yards against the Buccaneers, Brown shared a cryptic message about “struggling” under “terrible conditions.”

Recently, he shared a light-hearted moment with Patriots icons Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski. They joked about him potentially joining New England, and while he responded playfully, he later clarified it was just “trolling.”

There’s enough speculation for a trade to seem feasible, but trading him before June 1st would involve a hefty dead cap hit given his contract extension. If traded after that date, there remains a significant financial implication into 2026 and 2027.

“I believe AJ wants to be here. Obviously, a player of his caliber is invaluable,” Sirianni mentioned.

Meanwhile, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman affirmed that acquiring top-tier talent like Brown is still a priority for the team, though he didn’t shy away from acknowledging the possibility of trade discussions.

“As we enter the league year, we’re open to offers. If something unexpected comes up, you have to at least listen,” Roseman said.

He continued, “You never know what might happen. Striking a deal often involves balancing a surprising offer against the team’s needs.”

If Brown does return, the Eagles hope to rebound from a disappointing end to their season.

Philadelphia successfully claimed the NFC East title for the second consecutive year, but faced criticism after a home wild-card loss to the 49ers.

Sirianni demoted offensive coordinator Kevin Pattullo, who subsequently joined the Dolphins, replacing him with Sean Mannion.

It’s clear Mannion’s primary task will involve revitalizing the passing game and ensuring Brown receives more opportunities, assuming he remains in Philadelphia.

“As Howie noted, acquiring great players is tough. AJ is exceptional—great player, good teammate, and a solid person,” Sirianni affirmed. “Does he want to be here? Yes. Do I want him to be here? Absolutely.”
