Nickelodeon hired or worked with child molesters, pedophiles

Nickelodeon reportedly employed convicted child molesters and pedophiles who worked on the sets of children’s shows produced by Paramount’s cable network.

This shocking number was previously unknown, but a recent HBO documentary, Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Children’s Television, features testimonies from child actors who claim they were abused on the set of Nickelodeon shows. The newspaper has reached out to Nickelodeon for comment.

In the documentary, former child star Drake Bell, now 37, claims that he was sexually assaulted by Nickelodeon dialogue coach Brian Peck when he was 15 years old.

Peck was arrested in 2003.

The following year, he was sentenced to 16 months in prison and ordered to register as a sex offender after pleading no contest to two child sexual abuse charges.

Peck continued to work at Disney.

In 2021, Bell, who co-starred with Josh Peck (no relation to Brian Peck) in Drake & Josh, pleaded guilty to attempted child endangerment and disseminating material harmful to juveniles.

Prosecutors said he sent “inappropriate social media messages” to a 15-year-old girl who attended a concert in 2017 and “posed a risk of harm to the victim.”

The HBO documentary also shows Nickelodeon production assistant Jason Handy describing himself as a “full-blown pedophile” in his personal diary and photos of him masturbating to then-11-year-old Brandi Carlyle. It was also revealed that he had sent An actress who appeared as a guest on “The Amanda Show.”

In 2004, Handy pleaded no contest to felony charges of lewd conduct with a 9-year-old child, distribution of sexually explicit material, and misdemeanor sexual exploitation of a child.

Ezell Channel worked at Nickelodeon. He was convicted of sexually abusing two young children.

He was sentenced to six years in federal prison.

After his release, he was again charged with indecency with a child and violating the sex offender registry.

Handy remains in federal prison. His release date is set for 2038.

Marty Weiss, a 58-year-old talent manager who drove customers to Nickelodeon, was found guilty of lewd acts against a 12-year-old male customer.

A former client told police in 2012 that Weiss sexually abused him 30 to 40 times over a three-year period when he was about 11 years old.

Weiss served less than six months in prison.

Cody Longo, star of the 2012 Teen Nick show “Hollywood Heights,” was arrested in Colorado in 2019 on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl.

Longo pleaded guilty to lesser charges in 2021.

Last year, Longo, who struggled with alcoholism, was found dead in his home in Austin, Texas. He was 34 years old.

Ezell Channel, 54, was hired as a production assistant at Nickelodeon in 2005, despite a 2003 conviction for lewd acts with a child under 14.

In 2005, Channell’s mother reported him to police after prosecutors said he lured her 13- and 14-year-old children to his studio, showed them pornography and had inappropriate contact with them.

Channel was convicted but released again in 2010.

According to DailyMail.com, he is currently homeless in Los Angeles.

The HBO documentary devoted two episodes to producer Dan Schneider, who created several hit children’s shows on Nickelodeon.

Martin Weiss, a talent manager who represents actors who appear on Nickelodeon shows, has been arrested on suspicion of child sexual abuse. splash news

Schneider has not been accused of sexual misconduct, but is accused of fostering a culture of bullying, sexism and racism.

He denied the allegation.

The documentary included a video of Schneider getting into a bathtub with child actor Amanda Bynes.

Schneider, 58, broke his silence on Monday.

A representative for the former king of children’s television said in a statement: “Everything that happened on the show Dan ran was carefully vetted by dozens of adults involved and approved by the network.”

“Years later, if there was an actual problem with the scenes that some people are ‘sexualizing,’ they would have been removed, but they are not. They are still being broadcast constantly all over the world. Both children and parents are having fun.”
