Nicolas Cage reflected on his brief romance with Sarah Jessica Parker, recalling the exact moment when he realized their relationship wasn’t meant to be.
The Oscar-winning actor shared memories of their time together in the early 1990s, during which he felt a connection but wasn’t sure he met his mother’s standards. “I really liked Sarah, but I think I failed my mom’s test,” he admitted.
Cage reminisced about dating Parker around the time of filming the romantic comedy “Honeymoon in Vegas.”
During a recent appearance on “What Happens Live,” host Andy Cohen asked Parker if she had dated Cage. She confirmed, albeit a bit hesitantly, saying, “Um, yes. Yes, I did.”
Rumors about their relationship began in 1991 when they worked together, but it didn’t last long. The following year, Parker began a relationship with Matthew Broderick, whom she later married in May 1997.
Looking back, Parker admitted she felt affectionate toward Cage after spending just a short time together. “I remember being in the car and thinking, ‘I love him,'” she revealed.
The actress also highlighted her initial declaration of love to Broderick, noting, “There’s nothing to lose.” Broderick, she mentioned, responded positively right away.
Cage, for his part, has had several marriages, including to Patricia Arquette and Lisa Marie Presley. He later married Alice Kim but divorced in 2016. Most recently, he wed Riko Shibata and welcomed their daughter in September 2022. Cage also has a 34-year-old son, Weston, from a previous relationship.
Meanwhile, Parker and Broderick have three children: son James, 22, and twin daughters, Tabitha and Marion, who are 16.
