Makeup Artist Claims Industry Cancelled Her for Working with Melania Trump
Nicole Brill, who has done makeup for Melania Trump, stated on Wednesday that her association with the Trump family led her to be “canceled” in the beauty industry. In a conversation with Ahmad Ashrafi, she shared that her long-term work with the family became a point of contention.
“I mean, I’ve been with them for ages,” Brill remarked. “But once I began working with Melania, everything shifted. Beauty moved from simply aesthetics to something political. I was a bit naive back then; I couldn’t grasp why opportunities were vanishing. People were completely cutting ties with me.”
It wasn’t just her professional life that was affected; personal relationships also suffered. “People stopped socializing with me, and businesses distanced themselves,” she reflected. Products, once just products to her, turned into something more loaded. “Lipstick wasn’t just lipstick anymore.”
Some individuals even suggested that they would continue business with her if she distanced herself from the Trumps. “If you want to keep working with us, you can’t mention them anymore,” she recounted. This situation seems to echo a broader trend—sticking to one’s values can sometimes come at a steep price.
Brill emphasized the strength she found in standing her ground. “It wasn’t merely about wanting to avoid conflict. The pressure was immense. I feared going bankrupt without clients, yet I detest bullying,” she explained. “I’m not going to back down just because some people don’t like my choice to support Melania. She’s genuinely one of the kindest people I’ve known, and I admire her for her own resilience in the face of bullying.”
The White House had not yet provided a response regarding Brill’s statements. The story highlights the complexities of how personal beliefs can intertwine with professional decisions in the current climate.
