Hints about Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s separation seemed to surface a few months ago on a somewhat cryptic Instagram post.
Suspicions about their relationship began to grow earlier this year after it was confirmed that the couple had split following nearly two decades of marriage.
Back in June, Kidman marked their wedding anniversary with a heartfelt message on Instagram, posting a black and white photo of them that appeared to be taken in a dressing room. She captioned it, “Happy Anniversary Baby.”
However, the red flags may have been raised when Urban didn’t publicly celebrate their anniversary. Instead, he simply left a heart emoji on Kidman’s post, which felt unusual for someone who had always shown his affection for her on social media.
Urban’s last post featuring Kidman was back on May 9th during the Academy of Country Music Awards, where they appeared joyful together. In June 2024, he described their love as “eternal” while sharing sweet moments together.
After news of their separation broke, insiders indicated that the couple had been living apart since early summer. Sources revealed that while Kidman was reluctant to end things and tried to salvage the relationship, they ultimately went their separate ways.
At 58, Kidman is currently caring for their two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14. It’s unclear whether they’re planning to divorce, but indications suggest that Kidman initiated the separation.
The two originally met at the G’day USA Gala in January 2005 and tied the knot on June 25, 2006. Their last public appearance together was at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 in Nashville in June.
Meanwhile, sources say that within their close circle, the separation was not particularly surprising. Friends felt it was somewhat inevitable, especially given how long they had been living apart.
