Tragic Incident at Hershey Park Water Park
Witnesses are recounting the harrowing moment they saw a “lifeless” child being pulled from the wave pool at Hershey Park in Pennsylvania. “It was a scorching 92 degrees when my family arrived, and then we saw this child being dragged from the waves,” said a witness who chose to remain anonymous, sharing their distressing experience.
The child, unfortunately, was later pronounced dead at the hospital after showing signs of distress while in the water on Thursday.
As soon as the child was rescued, park staff and security rushed to administer CPR. “The lifeguard began CPR almost immediately, completely focused. You could feel the anguish in the crowd as they watched. It was overwhelming, and despite the staff’s efforts to shield onlookers from the trauma, the weight of the situation was just too much,” the witness added.
Another bystander remarked, “I heard later that it might have been a medical emergency, not just a typical drowning.” Normally, after a long day at Hershey Park, an exhausting experience would lead to a good night’s sleep, but this incident left many feeling restless.
The cause of the child’s death, as well as the specifics of the incident, remain unclear. Authorities are collaborating with Hershey Park and the Dauphin County Coroner’s Office to investigate what happened.
In a statement, Hershey Entertainment CEO John Loan expressed deep sorrow, saying, “The moment our lifeguard team recognized that the child was in distress, they sprang into action. Our thoughts are with the child’s family during this incredibly difficult time.”
In light of the tragedy, the wave pool will remain closed while the rest of the park carries on with regular operations.
