The border enforcement efforts under the Trump administration have shown significant results, with October 2025 recording the fewest illegal border crossings in the history of Customs and Border Protection (CBP). For the sixth consecutive month, U.S. Border Patrol reports no releases of apprehended individuals. The number of encounters stood at just 30,561, marking a 79% drop from October 2024. Officials at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) attribute this success to President Trump’s strict enforcement strategy, which they say has effectively regained control over illegal immigration at an unprecedented level.
“Our mission is straightforward: secure our borders and safeguard this country,” stated CBP Director Rodney Scott in a written statement. “That’s exactly what we’re accomplishing. No excuses, no politics—just results from our dedicated law enforcement professionals. We’re committed to this work; we’re not letting up.”
In October, Border Patrol apprehended around 8,000 migrants attempting illegal crossings between ports of entry. This figures out to an arrest rate of about 258 per day, or less than 11 an hour. In contrast, during the Biden administration, agents faced an overwhelming average of over 5,100 encounters each day. Just a year ago, agents were detaining over 300 illegal immigrants every four hours.
“This is historic. October has recorded the lowest number of border crossings ever, and we’ve achieved six months of zero releases. It’s the most secure our border has ever been,” said Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem. “Thanks to President Trump and our dedicated DHS agents. You are truly America’s pride!”
For six months in a row, Border Patrol did not release any illegal immigrants into the U.S. “For half a year straight, we’ve adhered rigorously to the law regarding people apprehended. This is an extraordinary achievement in modern border history,” reported DHS officials.
From January 21 to October 31 of Trump’s second term, agents arrested a total of 106,134 illegal immigrants. This figure is lower than the monthly crisis average encountered during the Biden administration, which saw around 155,485 illegal aliens each month, according to officials.
Under the Trump administration, it has been noted that agents averaged fewer than 10,000 illegal arrests monthly. Officials view this as “a level of sustained deterrence that we haven’t seen in contemporary times.”
