House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-Louisiana, said Tuesday on CNN’s “The Source” that people don’t really believe President Joe Biden would take cocaine and that any mention of it is a “joke.”
“I have no personal animosity towards Joe Biden. Of course I respect the office of the presidency and I was just acknowledging what everyone is watching. We can’t change the way we age. Everybody ages at a different pace,” Johnson said.
“People in the Trump campaign and Trump himself have suggested Biden will take cocaine during Thursday night’s debate, but some of these comments are way off the mark,” moderator Kaitlan Collins said.
“Obviously, there’s a lot of joking around. Nobody expects Joe Biden to take cocaine. But they’re asking the question and I think that’s where they’re going. I mean, I think it’s natural for people to ask if he’s taking some kind of energy drink or something. You can see that his energy level is very dependent on what format or forum he’s in. We expect he’ll do something like he did at the State of the Union. He was very energetic that night,” Johnson said.
