‘No One Is Above the Law, But’ Judge’s Control Is ‘Bigger’, Law’s ‘Immutable’ for White House

On CNN’s “Sources” aired Friday, Rep. Gwen Moore (D-WI) answered a question about whether Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan should follow the law, stating that “no one is above the law, but in the case of white houses the law is constant.” And then, “We have come to some sort of agreement in this country that there are sensitive areas where ice doesn’t work,” and “Jurists should have control over their courts, and the area should not be pressured to implement and support the ice. I think that’s a big problem.”

“I’ve heard that many Democrats are criticizing the White House for President Trump to say they need to follow the law, but isn’t that the case for everyone here?” host Catelan Collins said: “I’ve heard that President Trump is criticizing the White House because he says he needs to follow the law.

Moore said, “Well, no one is beyond the law, but I think the law is constant in the case of the White House. Again, we want to reassert that we have reached some kind of agreement in this country that there are sensitive areas where ice doesn’t work. These are things to do to bring lawsuits. But the point is that jurists should have control over the courts and the community should not put pressure on ice implementation and support.

Collins asked afterwards.[I]The f Ice agents were waiting outside the courtroom in a public area where, according to the document, they said they were there waiting for a court hearing to take place, so they were executed on that arrest, and the judge finds it and interferes with it.

Moore replied, “Well, you know what, this is not fair to ask me that question, because she hasn’t filed a lawsuit in court yet, so to protect herself fiercely, I think she’ll do it. The streets didn’t even arrest you in the hospital cafeteria as long as I was worried.

Collins also said in an interview, “President Trump has revoked that order and now if ice can go to schools, hospitals, courts, then ice can go to schools, hospitals, courts.”
