‘No Slowing Down’: Abbott Confirms There’s Been No Change At Border Since Biden’s New Policy, Says It’s ‘Accelerating’

Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott told Fox News on Sunday that there has been no noticeable change at the border since President Joe Biden issued an executive order targeting migration on June 4, 2024, and has instead “accelerated” migrants crossing the border.

Governor Abbott appeared on “Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo” to discuss the ongoing southern border crisis as the state continues to address border security. Fox host Maria Bartiromo first asked the Texas governor if there have been any changes at the border since President Biden announced an executive order on Tuesday that would suspend new asylum claims after migrant crossings reach a seven-day average of 2,500 per day, and resume them after the seven-day average reaches 1,500. “Not at all,” Abbott said. “The public needs to understand that nothing Biden has done has done anything to secure the border. In fact, it’s the exact opposite; he’s allowing even more people to cross the border illegally. Think about it: He stops asylum proceedings after he reaches the 2,500 crossings a day that he says he’s going to allow. And once he stops asylum proceedings, Biden hasn’t actually taken any action to stop anyone else from crossing the border.”

“No enforcement actions have been taken. As long as the Biden Administration refuses to take any enforcement action or any deterrence of people crossing the border illegally, all this new Biden policy will do is invite even more people to cross the border illegally. Since Biden’s order went into effect, as you’ve seen in the video, the number of people crossing the border has not decreased, in fact it has accelerated.”

“When Biden stands up and says this is going to stop people from coming across the border, he’s saying he’s going to secure the border, what’s actually making illegal crossings worse is gaslighting our fellow Americans,” Abbott said.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection data, encounters at ports of entry along the southwest border will exceed 100,000 each month from March to April 2024. In March, the Border Patrol recorded 137,480 encounters. encounterIn April, it fell 6 percent, with officials recording 128,900. encounter.

of New York Post Moreover, it was recently revealed that the Biden administration is operating a “mass amnesty” program for immigrants, with over 350,000 asylum applications filed by immigrants since 2022 being rejected by the US government if they have no criminal history or are deemed a threat to the US. In addition to being removed from the judicial system, the denial of an application means that immigrants no longer have to report to US authorities and can travel around the country without fear of deportation, the media reported.
