North Carolina husband, George Lesniak, kills wife, Cathleen Lesniak, admits to murder on Facebook in murder-suicide

A North Carolina husband murdered his wife, confessed to the murder in a chilling Facebook post, then turned the gun on himself in a bizarre murder-suicide.

George Lesniak shot and killed his wife, Kathleen Lesniak, 59, inside their North Carolina home shortly after 6 p.m. on January 18, according to the Fuquay-Varina Police Department.

Mr. Lesniak, 63, a former vice president of New York-based Ortel Automotive Intelligence USA, was found by police at his home suffering from a “fatal self-inflicted wound.”

The shooting occurred at the couple's five-bedroom, four-bathroom home in Fuquay Varina, North Carolina, 29 miles southwest of Raleigh.

After the shooting, George Lesniak claimed in a Facebook post that he had killed his wife over an alleged affair. To the NC beat.

“I killed my wife because she admitted to having an affair. I am trying to commit suicide,” Lesniak wrote to a private ADAS support group, the newspaper reported.

Lesniak was managing a group for technicians who tune vehicles' ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems).

In a now-deleted post, Lesniak told members to think for themselves about the future of the Facebook group.

The couple had been married for over 34 years.

Lesniak's message was posted at 6 p.m., three minutes before police were called to the home in the 800 block of Highwater Place.

Police said there was no threat to the public but were conducting a thorough investigation due to the “complex nature” of the incident.

“This incident is extremely tragic and we ask the community to keep the family in mind during this difficult time,” officials added.

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the cause of death was a murder-suicide.

Kathleen Lesniak worked as a technical production manager at Advanced Auto Parts, her private Facebook page reported. News & Observer.

Her husband is a native of Illinois, a graduate of Lincoln Technical Institute, and most recently served as Vice President of Training at Ortel Automotive Intelligence.

He worked remotely for the Long Island company for five and a half years before retiring in September 2024, according to his LinkedIn page.

Ortel Automotive responded to the alleged murder-suicide with a short Facebook post.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic events that occurred at the Lesniak residence on January 18th. We at Ortel extend our deepest condolences to Lesniak's family and friends,” the company said Sunday. Ta.
