North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum announced Monday morning that he has already withdrawn from the Republican presidential primary and will not seek a third term as governor.
“Serving as Governor and First Lady of the great state of North Dakota has been one of the most incredible and rewarding experiences of our lives,” Burgum said in a statement. “Kathryn and I are forever grateful to the people of North Dakota for twice giving us the opportunity to serve the state we love.”

Speculation has swirled about Burgum's future after former President Trump last week praised him and promised a “significant” role in a potential Republican administration.
