Now It All Makes Sense Why US Men’s Soccer Was So Crap For So Long — They Were Friggin’ Lazy!

Thank God for Mauricio Pochettino, wow.

In a recent interview, United States Men’s National Team (USMNT) defender Tim Ream spoke about the training sessions that they’re having under current manager Mauricio Pochettino, and he let us in on an eyebrow raising factoid. According to Ream, Pochettino has been holding two-hour practices, and amazingly, it’s “probably” the longest that USMNT has had in Ream’s 14 years with the squad. We’re currently in the first week of Pochettino’s training for USMNT, with the program finishing things up to wrap up his first round of practices with the team. Pochettino makes his official debut as head coach Saturday when U.S. Men’s Soccer heads down to Austin, Texas to square off against Panama. After that, they then go to Guadalajara where they will play Tuesday against Mexico.

With only nine international windows left until the 2026 World Cup gets here, Pochettino is understandably trying to use as much time as possible to get his boys into shape, which has unbelievably resulted in likely the longest practices that Ream has seen in his entire 14 years with USMNT.

I’m absolutely flabbergasted, but should I be?

It all makes sense when you think about it. We were ass in the 2022 World Cup, we were ass in Copa América and we’ve been ass in a lot of international friendlies while at it. I thought it was strictly because of bad managing, which it is, but to know that bad managing was also being blatantly lazy in a hard-working nation like the UNITED STATES?!

And this is exactly why we needed Mauricio Pochettino to save us, what a joke!
