Bettors are flocking to the Timberwolves ahead of their second-round series against the reigning champion Denver Nuggets.
According to Action Network, the Timberwolves were set to win the series with a mind-boggling 94.1 percent of tickets and 76.6 percent of handles at Fanatics Sportsbook.
At sportsbooks, Minnesota attracts 15 times more wagers than Denver.
There are still a few days until Tipoff for Game 1, but oddsmakers at Fanatics have already raised the Timberwolves to +175 from +200 to win the series.
At BetMGM, the Timberwolves are also a favorite, attracting 63 percent of wagers, but more than half (53 percent) of the sportsbook’s winnings go to the Nuggets.
The Nuggets opened at -255 to win the series at DraftKings Sportsbook, but the influx of money into the upstart Timberwolves has pushed them to -215 as of this writing.
Coming off their first series win in 20 years, the Timberwolves look to continue their already magical 2023-24 season.
After opening the series as a slight underdog, the third-seeded Timberwolves dominated the Phoenix Suns, winning three of four games by double digits.
The Nuggets are on a five-game winning streak against the Lakers.
The two teams also met in the 2023 playoffs, with Denver defeating Minnesota in five games, but All-Star big man Karl-Anthony Towns appeared in only one of those games.
Despite the betting public’s love for the Timberwolves, the Nuggets remain the favorite to win the Western Conference (+105, DraftKings).
