NY Times Acknowledges Obama DOJ Discovered Evidence of Ilhan Omar's Alleged 'Sham Marriage'

This week, the far-left New York Times acknowledged that during the Obama administration, the Department of Justice and Homeland Security “found some evidence” that in 2009, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) married her brother to assist him in obtaining a green card.

Welcome to today’s edition of Democrats Sure Got It Good.

According to the Times, “The F.B.I. and Department of Homeland Security investigated the marriage in summer 2016, during the Obama administration, and found some evidence that it was fraudulent, current and former officials said.”

Let’s take a moment to reflect on Barry’s notable lack of shame. Even though the inquiry originated during his administration, he recently described the Omar investigation as “appalling.”

So, what led the Obama administration to end the investigation? A mere technicality…

As the Times explains, “[T]hat case stalled chiefly because prosecutors concluded that the potential crime, a felony, fell outside a five-year statute of limitations.” It’s also stated that it’s “…unclear whether federal prosecutors could find a path to charging Ms. Omar that skirts the statute of limitations that applies to marriage-based immigration fraud, a crime that would not threaten her citizenship.”

However… “[T]hey could cite the marriage in an indictment or civil action that describes a family immigration fraud conspiracy — a broader case that Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin has said could lead to Ms. Omar’s deportation.”

For a decade now, Omar and much of the corporate media have dismissed anyone who investigates this matter as a “right-wing conspiracy theorist.”

If you delve into the remainder of the Times article, you’ll uncover a real conspiracy involving the Obama administration and local officials in Minnesota, aimed at stifling any media scrutiny into the issue.

When her political career began to gain momentum in 2016, a local Minnesota news outlet reported on the investigation. But, because Omar is a Democrat… and female… and a racial minority (which, you know, makes her somewhat untouchable), the then-U.S. Attorney for Minnesota, Andrew M. Luger, issued a letter for the campaign asserting that “my office is not investigating, nor have we requested an investigation into Ms. Omar.”

The background…

After gaining her American citizenship, Omar married Ahmed Nur Said Elmi in 2009. In a recent legal filing, even though she divorced Elmi in 2017, the Justice Department referred to her as Ilhan Nur Said Elmi. This suggests that the Justice Department might believe “Omar” is an alias.

That 2009 marriage allowed Elmi to receive a green card. Yet when it came to making his status permanent, he opted to leave the country instead of providing documentation to prove he was in a legitimate marriage with Omar.

We still don’t have the complete details of the ongoing investigation into Omar, but it appears to extend well beyond this suspected fraudulent marriage. There are questions surrounding her financials, the potential that she—or her father—might have misrepresented her age to secure naturalized citizenship as a minor, and even speculation about her father’s motives for seeking refugee status.

All we can do is hope for justice to prevail, and perhaps that this entitled, toxic individual finds herself in a country where marrying your brother is not only legal but somehow preferred.
