NYC Council Calls for Investigation into Plan to Hand Illegals $10K Pre-Paid Debit Cards

Adams proposed the new policy in early February, arguing that programs that allow undocumented immigrants to feed themselves could save the city millions of dollars in often wasted food dollars. .

City Councilmember Gail Brewer, according to WLNY-TV. blown up “I think we should bid to see who can do the best job at the best cost for the taxpayers,” the mayor said, urging bids on the contract.

Brewer called on the City Council to launch an investigation into the mayor’s plan to target 500 households as a test case.

“We don’t know exactly how it’s going to work. If you look at the release, you can see that it’s going to cover things like diapers and baby products and food, but it’s important to note that that’s actually going to be covered. We need to,” Brewer said.

Adams said it was attractive because debit card company Mobility Capital Finance is a minority shareholder.

Attention — Adams after school forced to close to shelter migrants: ‘We did a great job’, don’t blame shelter status:

“WMBs, women- and minority-owned businesses, have historically been shut out…so I know I’m standing in the way of what people traditionally want us to do,” Adams said. He spoke about the company.

Mr. Adams also claimed he had no personal relationship with Mobility Capital Finance’s principles, quipping, “We don’t hang out together in the Hamptons or go to baseball games together.”
