NYC Criminal Justice Reform Activist Charged with Murder

A New York ex-convict turned criminal justice reform activist has been charged with murder after the dismembered body of another former inmate was found in his apartment.

On Thursday, Johnson was charged with murder, manslaughter and weapons possession for allegedly killing 44-year-old Colin Small.

“I’m innocent!” the suspect shouted to reporters before appearing in Bronx Criminal Court.

Small’s body was discovered by police in her Summit Avenue apartment Tuesday night after neighbors said they heard screaming and gunshots the night before.

Neighbors said they heard someone say, “Please stop. I have family.” before two shots rang out.

Police reportedly found Ms Small’s severed torso and one leg stuffed inside a blue trash can, and Ms Johnson had previously been seen wearing a blonde wig disguise. It was caught on a security camera.

Small’s severed head, with a gunshot wound, was found in the freezer of Johnson’s Harlem apartment, along with her severed arm, leg and foot.
