A Bronx Family Court judge suddenly dropped out of a custody case after the mother involved publicly accused the jurist of approaching her through a swinger app, The Post has learned.
Judge Cynthia Lopez, 47, announced her abstention Monday during a brief virtual conference call with attorneys for parent Sidney Sutherland.
Mr Sutherland claims the shocking incident happened last week when he was contacted by a woman named ‘Cynthia’ on 3Fun, ‘the leading app for sexually liberated singles’.
Just before 8 a.m. on January 24, the woman wrote a message saying “GM,” using slang for good morning. “This is Cynthia. How are you doing?”
Sutherland provided the Post with screenshots of the alleged messages, along with a profile purporting to be from the sender, including a photo of Lopez sitting cross-legged on a couch wearing only black high heels and a black nightgown. It was in the picture.
The profile lists the woman as bisexual and identifies her male partner only as “Ant.”
The sender isn’t shy about what he’s looking for, stating the following in his public profile:
“We are a full swap.” [couple] in [ethical non-monogamy] Dynamic appearance that you want to enjoy hot and sexy fun with other complete swaps [couples] And single women too,” she wrote. “We love fat girls just as much as we love petite girls! At the end of the day, it’s all about personality. Men are stocky at best, and as a woman I like my men to be somewhat well-endowed. .”
Ms. Sutherland didn’t mince words when she answered:
“Bitch, do you know who I am?” Sutherland recalled saying.
The sender quickly blocked her, but Sutherland said she was able to capture the initial interaction and a profile photo.
“I plan to press charges,” Sutherland added, speculating that her custody case was being delayed because Judge Lopez was trying to put her to bed.
“She just wanted to meet me. There was a kind of attraction and I was disturbed by it. I had been fighting for my children for two years, and I didn’t want to do it because of sexual attraction.” And you’re making me feel bad,” she told the Post.

The TikTok post quickly reached the city’s Department of Children’s Services, which referred the matter to the state Court Administration Office. ACS declined to comment.
“The court is aware of this motion and is considering it,” an OCA spokesperson said in response to a question about the judge’s alleged flight and whether it led to his dismissal.
Sutherland’s legal troubles began on July 28, 2021, according to a lawsuit she filed against the city in September 2022, saying police failed to show cause. The incident began on Sunday, when New York City police officers raided the mother’s Bronx apartment and arrested her.
The NYPD declined to comment on the lawsuit, saying “no arrests have been made,” which contradicts the central claim of her lawsuit.
Sutherland’s two young children, Saniyah, now 9, and Saint, 4, were removed by ACS in February 2022, and Saniyah appeared before Judge Lopez the same month.
Sutherland, who claims to have been married nine times, is no stranger to the law.
She pleaded guilty to three counts of assault between 2015 and 2017.
In each case, she was given probation or mental health counseling.
In the 2017 incident, Sutherland was arrested after an NYPD officer witnessed her screaming on a Facebook Live video as a bloodied man lay on the floor in the background.
“This is what happened when AN-GA cheated on you. The motherfucker slashed him. Say my name, say my name and I’ll cut your throat. If King cuts you. Wants to have an affair with AN-GA. According to the criminal complaint, she yelled, “Do you want to fuck some other bitch?”
In another incident in 2015, a criminal complaint alleges that New York City police threw her then-1-year-old daughter Saniyah through the air, causing her to “land on her back on the floor,” causing her skull to fracture in two places. . .
Mr. Lopez served as interim civil and family court judge for three years before being formally appointed by Mayor Adams last month and has been praised. By the Latino Judges Association for her “sound judgment and legal expertise.”
Sutherland’s attorney, George Gilmer, said Mr. Lopez will be replaced by Fiordalisa A. Rodriguez, a custody judge.
Judge Lopez declined to comment and directed all inquiries to OCA.
