NYC Father of three gunned down brother, injured mom in Queens home

A married father of three shot and killed his brother and wounded his mother at their Queens home Saturday night before turning the gun on himself, police and officials said.

Police said Karamjit Multani, 33, broke into his brother, Vipampal Multani, 27,’s room around 10:30 p.m. and opened fire, striking him in the torso, before fleeing the home on 95th Street and 11th Avenue in South Richmond Hill.

Sources said Karamjit Multani was later found a mile away with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head and a gun next to his body.

The brothers’ 52-year-old mother sustained graze wounds from the bullets and was immediately taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Vipanpal did not die immediately but succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

“He told me, ‘Please don’t let him die,'” said a neighbor of the family. He told CBS NewsHe recalled how he ran inside the house after chaos erupted.

“Then he died in my hands.”

The brothers’ grieving father told the news station the shocking murder-suicide happened after a quiet evening of family dinner over pizza.

It remains a mystery why Karamjit, who is married with three children, killed his brother.

“We don’t know, I don’t know,” the father said, adding that Karamjit entered his brother’s bedroom and quickly opened fire without warning.

Karamjit’s father said Karamjit was financially stable and had never shown any aggressive behavior towards his family, who did not know he had a gun.

Asked if there were any problems between his sons, the grieving father said: “It’s not a big problem. We have little disagreements sometimes but there are no problems.”
