Curtis Sliwa Unveils New Ad Against Mayoral Rivals
Republican mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa has swapped his usual jacket, striped tie, and iconic red beret for a more polished look in a new 30-second TV advertisement aimed at his election opponents.
In the ad, Sliwa earnestly addresses the camera, taking a jab at Democratic candidate Zoran Mamdani, independent candidate Mayor Eric Adams, and former governor Andrew Cuomo.
“Reflect on what we’ve been through in New York,” Sliwa states as an image of Adams flashes on the screen.
“Our schools are failing. We need to restore police funding, combat crime, and tackle corruption. We don’t have to accept this reality,” he continues, shifting his gaze towards Cuomo’s image.
“Career politicians—they’re selling us out!” Sliwa asserts emphatically.
The focus then shifts to Mamdani, the leading socialist candidate.
“Now socialists claim they have the solution,” Sliwa remarks in the commercial. “United, we can create a safer and more affordable New York.”
Despite the change in style, Sliwa isn’t completely letting go of his beloved beret. The ad features an image of a younger Sliwa wearing the hat, and in the final clip, he’s seen in a suit with his wife, Nancy, wearing a red hat.
This ad marks the second in his campaign as he gears up for the New York mayoral election scheduled for November 4th. His campaign has invested about $500,000 into this latest effort.
According to the city’s Campaign Finance Committee, Sliwa qualifies for public matching funds and has amassed around $3 million for his campaign.
Earlier this month, his wife, Nancy, made an appearance in her own ad alongside Sliwa, further engaging the electorate.
With early voting starting on October 25th, the countdown to the election is quickly approaching.
