Bronx man who chopped four fingers on a machete-wielding nut leaves his attacker petrified of his return – and says the victim's family followed through on his threat to decapitate his dog told the Post on Sunday.
Taikon Young, 34, is still recovering from Friday morning's attack, but the beast that attacked him and threatened to kill his 4-year-old puppy Chanel remains on the loose, his aunt said. Ta.
“Let's get this guy!” said his aunt, Tashemia Young. “I'm walking the dog with my husband. My husband is also walking him. What if the guy sees us and gets angry and decides to finish the decapitation? [Chanel] Or turn us on?
“My nephew, I'm thankful he only lost a finger and not his life,” added Tashemia, 48. “Everyone needs to be careful right now. No one is looking for you. All we have now is neighbors protecting neighbors.”
The shocking attack unfolded around 11:30 a.m. at Southern Boulevard and East 178th Street in Crotona.
“They were playing,” Taikon told the dog post on Saturday. “His dog didn't have a leash. My dog was next to me. She wasn't biting his dog or anything. My dog was playing.”
However, the other dog's owner attacked, pulling a machete and threatening to cut off Chanel's head. When Tayquon tried to grab the blade to protect the pup, four of his fingers were severed and fell to the sidewalk.
The injured man's aunt said bystanders did nothing as the attacker walked away.
“I'm down the block trying to find my nephew's finger. The cops are laughing. This isn't funny,” she said. “I'm tired of this. Enough is enough. My husband asked them what happened, and they snored, like asking a dog what happened to him. I told him.”
The NYPD, which is looking for the machete-wielding Nat, did not respond to the allegations, telling the Post, saying the family cannot identify the officer they say was disrespectful.
Doctors were able to get three of Taikon Young's fingers back again. His fourth finger has never been found.
Meanwhile, the victim's aunt said that even Chanel can't get over the attack.
“Even the dog was traumatized,” she said. “I mean, everything she does is you can hear her crying. She misses her owner. She was whole. It happened right down the block.
“The first night I had to take Chanel out, she hesitated. Now she's crying for the owner,” she added. “She saw it happen, and that's traumatic for any animal.”
