NYC man shot, killed by scooter-riding gunman in Brooklyn: Police

A gunman on a scooter shot and killed a man walking around his Brighton Beach home, officers said.

The bullet flew at 2954 Brighton 12th Avenue around 10pm on Friday, and 45-year-old Elijah Scott was injured in multiple gunshots, police said. He was rushed to Nyu Langone Hospital-Brooklyn, but was unable to save him.

The shooter escaped on the black electric scooter he was riding on. It was not clear whether he was fired or stopped while he was on board, officers said. The murder was under investigation, police said.

A friend established the Scott memorial a few hours after filming.

“He had a big heart,” said the man who identified himself as a friend of the victim.

“He was someone who cared for others,” said a friend. “If something bad happens, he'll get involved to stop it.”

Scott was pre-arrested five times on his rap sheet and was the latest in 2023 with the latest weapon possession, police sources said.
