NYC Mayor Zoran Mamdani Aims to Resolve Feud with 50 Cent

New York City Mayor Zoran Mamdani expressed his desire to end what he described as a one-sided conflict with rapper 50 Cent. This admission came during his appearance on a podcast hosted by Gillian Superstar.

When asked about his ideal dinner guest, dead or alive, Mamdani named Mayor Fiorello La Guardia, calling him the greatest mayor in the city’s history. He playfully suggested he would like to “donate 50 cents” for a discussion on tax policy.

The host seemed to agree that such a conversation was important. Previously, during an interview on “The Breakfast Club,” Mamdani admitted to being a fan of 50 Cent, noting that the rapper does not share his views on tax policy. Mamdani mentioned, “If 50 Cent is listening, I know he’s not going to be happy about this. He tends not to like this tax policy, but let’s be clear, this is about $20,000 a year. That’s a rounding error.” He emphasized how this policy could benefit all New Yorkers.

In response, 50 Cent didn’t hold back, saying, “Where is he from? Who’s his friend? I’m not feeling this plan. No, I’ll give him $258,750 and a first-class one-way ticket from New York. I’ll also tell Trump what he said!”

Despite past disagreements, Mamdani maintained that he still admires the rapper’s work. He even played a clip during an interview where he quoted 50 Cent’s song “Get Rich or Die Tryin’” during a commencement speech. When the interviewer asked if it was a one-sided beef, Mamdani agreed, saying, “It’s a one-sided beef.”

He acknowledged that differences over tax policy might always exist, as he favors increases for the wealthiest, while 50 Cent appears to oppose such moves. Still, Mamdani expressed his appreciation for the song “Many Men.”

A representative for 50 Cent has not yet responded to requests for comments regarding this ongoing discussion.
