Police and sources say a mob used a box cutter to randomly slash a 62-year-old man as he crossed a street in the Bronx in broad daylight on Sunday.
The victim was waiting for a traffic light to change at Hugh Grant Circle near Metropolitan Avenue in Parkchester around 2:20 p.m. when the blackmailer, who had a history of emotional disorders, suddenly attacked the man for no apparent reason. Officials and other sources announced that the victim had cut his right ear. .
Police searched the area and found the alleged attacker, Joyner Jabon, 33, authorities said.

Police said Jabon had a history of being “emotionally disturbed” and was charged with assault.
A gray box cutter blade was recovered from the scene, police said.
Police said the victim was treated by paramedics at the 43rd Precinct.
