NYC subway slasher apprehended after alleged assault on 11-year-old girl

A maniac reportedly armed with a box cutter knife has been accused of going on a rampage near a New York City subway station and slashing an 11-year-old girl in the head.

The NYPD arrested Shaquan Cummings, 30, on Friday afternoon and charged him with assault endangering the welfare of a child and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Cummings is accused of assaulting the girl shortly after he allegedly punched another 43-year-old woman, an NYPD spokesperson said.

The incident occurred just outside the 116th Street 6 subway station around 2:18 p.m. Friday. The New York Post reported.

The girl was walking hand in hand with her mother on the street when a man with a box cutter slashed her on the back of her head and cut off her ear, the report said.

“Don’t let him go!” another man says as police try to stop the crowd from dispensing vigilante justice.

Police later arrested and charged Cummings, according to the New York Post. Cummings reportedly has a long rap sheet with more than 20 prior arrests.

Most recently, Cummings was arrested two months ago and appeared in court on assault charges, NYPD officials told the station.

Sladek told the newspaper that she wanted her daughter to receive justice.

“You don’t have to worry when you’re walking down the street that someone is going to attack you and attack you. In fact, my daughter didn’t even attack a dog, she attacked a small child,” she said. I did.
