New York City officials have quietly told hundreds of immigrants that the city will stop funding hotels in north Albany and that the immigrants must leave the free accommodation by mid-December.
Democratic Mayor Eric Adams' administration announced on Dec. 31 that the city will phase out hotel funding for up to 220 immigrant families currently staying in hotels in Albany, New York. The deadline will be moved up to December 15th. It was just a week after Donald Trump won a second term in Washington.
The announcement comes on the heels of the arrest of several immigrants in Rensselaer, New York, in connection with a murder in Connecticut with suspected ties to the dangerous and bloodthirsty Venezuelan criminal organization Torren de Aragua. Ta. rensselaer police reported According to WIVB-TV, those arrested in New York had tattoos that have been identified as marks used by gang members.
Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple recently added that there is definitely a dangerous gang presence in his jurisdiction, saying, “If anyone thinks Torren de Aragua isn't here, they're mistaken.'' “There is no doubt that they are here.”

The paper added that the price tag for housing migrants in hotels amounts to $352 a night at a cost to the city's treasury, of which $130 goes to the hotel owner. The rest goes towards social services, food and cleaning costs.
But despite these reductions, the city is still considering contracts for 14,000 rooms for immigrants over the next few years, with total spending up to about $6.1 billion, and already 24 million rooms in 2022 and beyond. $10 million has been spent.
New York City is not the only major city spending millions, if not billions, of dollars renting hotel rooms for immigrants. The city of Denver is also working on this practice.
