A Manhattan woman claims she was doused with a “scalding drink” by a passenger on a flight from JFK Airport to Cairo.
According to federal court documents in Brooklyn, Esraa Hezain, 35, was “burned” on February 18 by hot liquid from an “opened cup” that spilled from a “defective” seat tray. is suing EgyptAir for $5 million.
The complaint says the plane encountered “significant turbulence” “soon after the beverage was served,” and that the flight crew “failed to suspend service or issue any warning prior to the turbulence.”

According to the lawsuit, Hezain alleges that multiple seatback tray tables on the plane, including her own, were in “disrepair.”
Hezain “failed to maintain a horizontal position during deployment,” the complaint alleges.
As a result of the accident, Hezain suffered “serious” and “permanent” injuries.
She suffered second-degree burns to her lower abdomen, right inner thigh and buttocks, Herzain's attorney, Abram Boler, told the Post.
“There was no need for this to happen given the price of the lid,” he says.
