Earlier this summer, rumors began after reports indicated that NYCFC turned down a substantial offer for Fernández Mercau and that the player himself had expressed a desire to leave New York.
Since arriving during the 2025 summer transfer window, Fernández Mercau has truly shone with NYCFC. His record of 13 goals this season puts him among the top scorers in the league. Despite the rumors, a source close to the team emphasized that NYCFC has no intention of letting him go, stressing that the 26-year-old Argentine fits perfectly into their strategy of building a winning team.
