National Intelligence Director Discusses Putin’s Plan Regarding Clinton
On Wednesday, National Intelligence Director Tarsi Gabbard revealed that Russian President Vladimir Putin had intentions to reveal material compromising then-presidential candidate Hillary Clinton during the 2016 election, according to a significant report from the House Intelligence Committee. Gabbard noted that this was part of Putin’s strategy to diminish trust in the electoral process rather than to favor any specific candidate.
During a press briefing alongside White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, Gabbard presented findings from a September 2020 report by the House Intelligence Committee Oversight Majority. “The aim wasn’t to push for certain candidates but to disrupt confidence in the election system,” she explained.
Gabbard elaborated that the report indicated Putin was prepared to leak compromising information about Clinton just before the election, which he believed could undermine what was viewed in Moscow as her certain victory. “In fact, this report shows Putin was on hold, planning to release Hillary Clinton’s compromising material to weaken her standing,” she stated.
Gabbard also shared a significant finding regarding an evaluation of the intelligence community requested by President Obama in January 2017. According to her, John Brennan, then CIA director, along with the intelligence community, deliberately held back information that suggested Putin was preserving the most damaging evidence related to Clinton, even after her potential election.
Continuing, Gabbard highlighted that the report revealed high-level emails from the Democratic National Committee that suggested evidence of “possible criminal behavior” and pointed towards “uncontrolled conformity of emotional issues” related to Clinton. This possibly indicated that she had utilized a tranquilizer.
This report offers extensive details from Russia and insights about Clinton. It discusses an increase in State Department funding in exchange for backing Clinton’s campaign, including a secret meeting with various religious groups. Additionally, there were documents related to State Department employees supporting her campaign. There were also significant DNC emails showcasing Hillary’s alleged emotional struggles, implying her increasing reliance on therapy at that time.
Gabbard criticized Brennan and the intelligence community for relying on dubious sources of information and suggested they crafted a misleading narrative implying that Putin preferred Trump.
On Wednesday, Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk asserted that if Russia had favored Trump’s presidency, they would have released damaging documents about Clinton prior to the election. “If they really backed Trump and wanted to undermine Clinton, they would have leaked this when her lead was down to just 1.3 points in October 2016,” Kirk remarked.
Kirk added that instead of acknowledging their errors, the Brennan-led CIA produced a completely alternate version of reality to challenge President Trump’s legitimacy.
