Obese Texas Man Rammed ATV into Parked Teslas in Hit-and-Run Spree

An obese man was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly intentionally plunged into a Tesla car that was deliberately parked on an ATV on an unprovoked hit-and-run page in Texalcana, Texas.

KTB Report Demarqeyun Marquize Cox, 33, was taken into custody by the Texal Cana Police Station after one of his alleged attacks was filmed on video by highly Tesla, which purposefully crashed. The incident occurred when the electric car owner Virita Carstaffin was having lunch at a nearby restaurant.

Footage obtained by local news station KTBS shows the 5-foot-2, 449-pound Cox backs up the ATV and plunges straight into the side of Calstaphin's red Tesla, causing considerable damage to the front driver's side door. Warned against the attack by a phone notification, Calstaphin estimated that replacing the entire door would cost more than $1,000.

Police were called to the area after receiving reports of a second Tesla being damaged at a nearby Lowe store. Officers stopped Cox for more than a mile south of Golden Palace, and one police officer recognized him from the video of the buffet restaurant incident. During the initial questioning, Cox provided a false name and claimed that he was someone else, but police were not fooled by his cocky attitude and proceeded with his arrest.

“Based on what they saw on the video, they knew because of the fact that he hit the first Tesla at least,” said Sean Vaughn, a spokesman for the Texalcana Police.

Cox was charged with felony criminal mischief, causing damages between $2,500 and $30,000 and failed to identify. He is currently being held at the two-state Judicial Center on a $105,000 bond.

After his arrest, a third damaged Tesla was reported, with the suspect, who has not yet been determined, carved “Elon” into the sides of two other cars. Cox is only charged with damages for the first vehicle, but authorities said an investigation is underway and additional charges could be filed later.

The incident is the latest in a series of violent attacks and domestic terrorism against an Elon Musk-owned company, following the billionaire work within the Trump administration. Several arsonists have been accused of setting Tesla cars on the dealership, while others have tainted the car with anti-Trump graffiti. In response, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondy accused three instigators of domestic terrorism on suspicion of crime, each facing up to 20 years in prison.
